Position Description

SPEC Building Materials Corporation is recognized as one of the nation’s leading wholesale distributors of the highest quality building materials, equipment and products for both commercial and residential roofing contractors. While presenting relevant content for everyday challenges and solutions, a SPEC Corporate Operations Trainer will help coach and mentor our associates. The ideal candidate enjoys building, teaching and molding new candidates who are part of the building materials industry.


Position Responsibilities

  • Develop Training Curriculum
  • Teach and Coach New Associates
  • Schedule Associates Training Module
  • Schedule Key Vendor Product Demonstrations
  • Continuing Education Programs for Associates
  • Evaluate New Employee Progress
  • Facilitate New Employee Training - Distribution Facility - New Opening
  • Assist Regional Manager - Store Operations
  • Some HR Responsibilities - On Boarding

Position Requirements

  • Preferably a 4 year BS in Marketing/Sales, Business.
  • Eight years of proven success in building materials industry.
  • Must have seven years of branch management experience in the roofing industry.
  • Heavy travel required (intermittent).
  • Possess strong leadership qualities.
  • Must have strong sales skills.
  • Must reside in the Greater Kansas City Area.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook PowerPoint, Excel and Internet.
  • Extensive product knowledge - Steep Slope / Low Slope Roofing.
  • Must possess the entrepreneurial spirit; be self-motivated, and enthusiastic about our business.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills, management skills and attitude.
  • Must be detailed oriented and possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be dependable and have a current state issued driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a company required drug test.
